I have been going to Winchester Dental for about a year now with no strong feelings about the place. My most recent visit started out as nothing out of the ordinary. I started going through the motions and this is where things started to change. Sam (dental assistant) was reviewing today’s treatment plan and paperwork and then began numbing me. She answered all of my questions and didn’t rush me through anything or make me feel that I was asking too many questions. This first change made a positive difference in my experience. My normal experience is the assistant leaves or has a conversation with someone else so I never have an opportunity to ask. Then the dentist shows up, does the work, I pay, and I am on my way out the door. For this visit, I requested a different dentist which put me with Dr. Richardson. She listened to me when I said I was feeling things, made sure I was comfortable, and asked how I was doing along the way (genuinely). This made me feel more relaxed as I now have a lot of anxiety with the dentist. This change was the second positive impact towards my experience at Winchester Dental. It has been many years since I've had a good experience at the dentist (including at Winchester Dental excluding this one) and that has only been increasing my anxiety when going to the dentist even for regular routine check-ins. I am a bit more hopeful that future visits at this dental office with Sam and Dr. Richardson will continue to be like this one so that I can leave with a little less anxiety and feeling good about my appointment.
